WOW!
I'm going thru my e-mails and lo and behold...An e-mail from Sweden! David Krug was nice enough to send us pics and info about their new Plaza in Sweden. Story goes that Brotherhood clothing and the city of Stockholm came together to create 20000 square feet of asphalt, grass gaps, bushes, trees, curbs, banks and hips that do not at all look like your average skatepark, more like real suburb or small town street spots. The goal for all the spots is to disguise them as real street spots, to make pics or video shots taken there to look more like street skating than skatepark and to add to the feeling when skating there. Brotherhood and Stockholm city are planning to keep adding new spots to the plaza as soon as it can be funded.
I'm told that, so far, the Plaza has cost about 100 000 euros wich is about 150 000$ to 170 000$ depending on where the euro is at this time. In my opinion, the money has been very well spent. Looks a hell of alot better than most of our parks in the same price range. This is one of the reasons I started the international section...We got to seriously take note of what's going on around us.
As of now there are 20 times as many spots that have been drawn than the ones that have been built, due to funding. The goal is to raise about $ 1.000.000 to 4.000.000 euros. Meanwhile the skaters have ambitions to build more spots themselves.
